Software Engineer: November 2015 - Present

• Worked as a full stack web developer using Python (Pyramid framework).
• Many projects focused on moving from a monolith app to a service based architecture.
• Lead the release of our new homepage, which is our highest traffic frontend service.
• Implemented caching for the new homepage with a hit rate of 95%. This reduced page load times by 70%, and it allowed us to scale to 100% of users.
• Used Splunk to create alerts and dashboards for monitoring new services.
• Lead a cross team effort to develop for Yelp’s first internal promotion platform.
• Updated checkout flows to give business users the option to buy our verified license product.
• In my personal time, scraped 50,000 business licenses from www.ca.gov, and matched 17.8% to Yelp businesses. The results were used in campaigns pitching our verified license product.
• Migrated a major frontend component, our web and mobile site header, to React.
• Worked with our large scale metrics databases in Amazon Redshift to analyze experiments.
• With our metrics data, created Tableau dashboards to track OKR’s and identify our weak points.
• Mentored multiple new hires, and mentored an intern that returned for a full-time position.
